About The Project

The Prayer Garden is a place for all; for all moments in one's life. One will come to this place with a heart full of joy, one may come to this place when one's heart is heavy, and Mary our Mother will always be waiting for us with both of her arms outstretched. Today we are standing shoulder to shoulder with pride in what we have accomplished together so far. We will continue to support each other as we have a few more things to accomplish before the Grand Opening next year. For instance, the custom made statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diego are in the modeling/design process by a sculptor here in the metro area. We will need the four statues that go into the stone nitches/arches. We would love to hear your input on what statues you would like to see. Lighting still needs to be purchased and installed. The Resurrection chapel which is now just a circle needs to be designed and built. These are some of the things yet to be accomplished in the coming months.

Our Prayer Garden will be here for years to come, as a place of kindness, comfort, care, miracles, healing and relief from any hurts. Our Lady of Guadalupe will always intercede to Her Son Jesus Christ, longing to keep us safe in her mantle. Guadalupe means ‘one who tramples upon the serpent/evil’. May Mary Our Mother crush the difficulties and obstacles along our way and open many doors of opportunities. May this Prayer Garden make you cry with joy: 'With Mary everything, without Mary nothing; with Jesus everything, without Jesus nothing.' As St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta would say, 'Works of love are always works of peace.' It was her daily prayer that made Mother Teresa so great in the eyes of God and man. Pray her prayer whenever you can:

Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others. Amen.

Barb Buetow, a long time parishioner, wrote the following poem for us. Just like Barb, this place will touch the hearts of many and inspire many more to write poems and books, all for the Glory of God:

Our Prayer Garden now stands so proudly Quiet and still, yet speaks loudly Winter snow has fallen all around Covering tracks left upon the ground Snow covered lights peak out under snow Sending out a warm inviting glow Anxiously we wait for spring to come When again our Prayer Garden work will be done One can remember love ones who have come and gone By setting a stone, that lasts, in memory of someone A reflection of what they too might have done Remember, yourself, a gift for sure As a member of St. Nicholas, how your faith endured Soon the Prayer Garden will be St. Nicholas' dream A dream completed, inviting one and all Come to our Prayer Garden, to visit, pray, or contemplate Lord, may the Garden dedicated to Our Lady, forever Stand Tall.

Just as Mary told Juan Diego, 'Why Worry? Am I not here your dear Mother? In the same way, Jesus Our Lord is always whispering in our ears, "Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart...." (Matthew 11: 28). No wonder, we often say, 'With Mary everything, without Mary nothing; with Jesus everything, without Jesus nothing.' Mary and Jesus, Son and Mother will always be here for us.

It is with great joy that I write to you as we commemorate the 140th Anniversary of St. Nicholas Church in Carver Minnesota...
